The Battle of Midway
Timeline was a decisive victory for the United States. In
total the Japanese lost four carriers, a cruiser, 3,057 men and
248 aircraft during the battle. Many of the Japanese pilots
survived, but the highly trained and efficient Japanese aircraft
maintenance teams did not. The United States lost one aircraft
carrier, 307 men and 150 aircraft but they had halted the might
of the Japanese Navy, gained the initiative and turned the
tide of war.
